<p>PURPOSE:To execute thinning processing corresponding to dot pitches of an original image by deciding an interval having a largest number of appearance frequency among intervals between detected edges to be a dot pitch interval in a mesh. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a map memory 5 storing a thinning map and a reduction processing section 6 implementing thinning processing while cross referencing image information in the image memory 4 with the interleave map in the map memory 5. Prior to the thinning processing, a thinning table in which which of the original image is to be interleaved is set is generated. An original image including a dot area is recognized integrally and processing is implemented in a series of processing without processing while dividing a character area and a dot area of the original image. Based on the thinning map generated in this way, the thinning processing of the original image is implemented. Since the thinning processing of the entire original image is executed while keeping a pitch interval of dots while making the reduction rate of the dot area in cross reference with the reduction rate of the character area, the fidelity with the original image is kept.</p> |
