The rotary spit comprises a tray (8) for the meat portions cut from the spit. The tray can be moved like a drawer in a drawer guide from the warming position underneath the fat collecting tray (7) into the access position.The meat tray can be covered in the warming position by an electrically heatable, removable hot plate (11) mounted in the base frame (1) of the unit underneath the fat collecting tray.
