<p>A process for making a pixelized phosphor structure involves the steps of forming an integral, non-layered mold by creating a plurality of openings in a substrate, and depositing a phosphor into the openings of the mold, thereby filling each of the openings of the mold with phosphor, and thereby forming a pixelized phosphor structure comprising an array of discrete phosphor elements. A second process for making a pixelized phosphor structure involves the steps of forming a first integral, non-layered mold by creating a plurality of first openings in a substrate, forming a series of one or more generations of replicas of the master mold, each of the one or more generations of replicas having a plurality of second openings, depositing a phosphor into the second openings of one of the one or more generations of replicas, thereby filling each of the second openings of the one of the one or more generations of replicas with phosphor, and thereby forming a pixelized phosphor structure comprising an array of discrete phosphor elements. A third process for making a pixelized phosphor structure involves the steps of providing a sheet of a first phosphor, creating a plurality of discrete holes in the first phosphor, each of the discrete holes extending through the first phosphor and having two openings, and depositing a second phosphor onto the first phosphor to form a pixelized phosphor structure, at least a portion of the second phosphor being deposited into the plurality of discrete holes in the first phosphor.</p> |
