PURPOSE:To enhance catalytic capacity, in producing a catalyst element by rolling a catalyst compsn. so as to support the same on an inorg. fiber fabric, by partially forming gaps between the inorg. fiber fabric and a pressure roll and allowing the catalyst compsn. to protrude to the gaps to cover the surface of the inorg. fiber fabric. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst compsn. 3 is rolled by a pair of pressure rolls 6 so as to be supported on a pair of inorg. fiber fabrics 2 to produce a catalyst element 1. In this case, soft strip like materials having unevenness, for example, uneven papers 11 are interposed between both pressure rolls 6 and both inorg. fiber fabrics 2 corresponding thereto and the shape of the uneven papers 11 is held in the initial biting stages of both pressure rolls 6 rolling the catalyst compsn. 3 to partially form gaps between both inorg. fiber fabrics 2 and both pressure rolls 6 and spaces permitting the catalyst compsn. 3 to protrude are demarcated. Therefore, the surfaces of both inorg. fiber fabrics 2 are covered with the protruding catalyst compsn. 3 and a catalyst element excellent in catalytic capacity can be produced. |
