Device for automatic vol. redn. of empty plastic bottle, using hot water source, in domestic or restaurant applications consists of a cylindrical kettle (2) fitted with an internal electric resistance heating element (1) surrounding the central portion of the kettle and powered by a control switch (7) via a push button (6). The bottle (13) is immersed in a small vol. of water (15) and stands on a reinforced base (8) of the kettle. A bracket (9), supporting a cover (3) used to fold the neck of the bottle, is equipped with a spring to vertically compress the bottle during the melting of the end in the hot water.
