The prodn. of aminated cotton fibres (I) comprises modifying raw cotton or cotton/polyester mixts. at the boiling, scouring or dry mercerising stage by addn. of an opt. mono- or poly-OH-substd. 3-15C satd. aliphatic cpd. (II) with at least one prim., sec., tert. or quat. amino gp. and at least one hydrolysable ester gp., in which the satd. gp(s) is/are linear, branched and/or cyclic gp(s). opt. cont. in-chain hetero gps. Also claimed is a process for dyeing the modified fibres (I), in which no alkali or electrolyte salt is added to the dye bath, pad formulation, printing paste or ink-jet formulation. |
