Roof bar for vehicles

The roof bar comprises a tubular beam (1) extending at a distance parallel to the roof surface along a side roof frame and bent down (2) at the ends. An insert element (4) is inserted in each free beam end and rests on the inner wall of the beam. An adaptor element (6) is fixed on the insert element tensioning the beam wall by means of fixing elements passing through the wall. The adaptor is provided with threaded bolts (9) for fixing the roof bar on the vehicle roof. The free beam end is enclosed by a cover cap (15) which extends round the adaptor and over the bent area of the beam. An end area of the insert and an end area of the adaptor can overlap one another when fitted in the open beam ends with the threaded bolt being fixed by a threaded nut (14) through the overlap.
