Multiple reflection spectrometer for time of flight mass spectrometer
摘要
The spectrometer includes an ion source and two rotation symmetrical, focusing, electrostatic ion reflectors. Their axes of symmetry combine such that the ions travel on flight paths falling within each other between the reflectors and form a flight path corridor. The spectrometer also includes at least one signal electrode pair as a double plate parallel to the flight path corridor and insulated. The double plate at least partially encloses the corridor. The potential difference between the electrodes varies with time and is measured by a suitable differential amplifier circuit. This measured potential difference may then undergo Fourier analysis to provide a high resolution mass spectrum.
