The invention relates to a working cylinder, comprising a cylinder unit with a front end part 4 and a rear end part 15 and a cylindrical tube 12 joining the said front end and rear end parts, a piston 5 moveable in the cylindrical tube, and a piston rod 1, fixed in the piston and passing through the front end part 4. The intention is to produce a new, simple solution for fixing the cylindrical tube 12 to the end parts 4, 15. Each of the end parts 4, 15 has been provided with a shoulder 4, the cylindrical tube 12 being fixed in each of the end parts 4, 15 by means of a compression ring 13, 14, which during deformation of the end of the cylindrical tube 12 by means of the said end clamps the end shoulder 18, 16 tightly in place. <IMAGE>
