PURPOSE:To obtain a wear-resistant guide member consisting of a sintered compact having a specified average crystal particle diameter and composed of oxide (s) of at least one kind of metal among Ti, V and Cr, a specified amount of impurities and the balance of Al2O3. CONSTITUTION:This wear-resistance ceramics guide member is obtained by the following processes: Al2O3 powder <=3mum in average particle diameter and >=99% in purity is incorporated with powdery oxide (s) of at least one kind of metal, <=5mum in average particle diameter, selected from Ti, V and Cr, followed by adding an appropriate amount of paraffin wax to the resultant blended powder and then conducting a granulation; the granulated product is then molded into a specified shape followed by sintering at 1400-1700 deg.C in the atmosphere or a vacuum. This ceramics guide member consists of a sintered compact <=5mum in average crystal grain diameter composed of 0.05-8wt.% of metal oxide (s), <=0.1wt.% of impurities and the balance of Al2O3, having such physical properties as >=50kg/mm<2> in flexural strength and >=1700kg/mm<2> in Vickers hardness. |
