The container comprises a ball domed pot open at the top and having a lower stand. The dome has a clearance for adding plant substrate. A dimensionally stable hood (5) with an outward curvature and apertures (6) fits onto the upper pot opening. The young fast growing plant shoots pass through the apertures and are positioned comparatively loosely relative to each other above the plant substrate. Whilst the plant substrate can be added directly into the clearance at the top of the pot a separate plant pot holding substrate can also be used.
