<p>PURPOSE:To make a toner using a binder resin having a low softening point which can be fixed at a low temp. long in service life without any blocking by coating toner base particles having a specified melt-starting temp. with a shellac resin containing a specified resin as the component. CONSTITUTION:The surface of each toner base particle containing a binder resin and a coloring agent and having 40 deg.C to 100 deg.C melt-starting temp. is coated with a shellac resin expressed by the formula. In the formula, R is CHO or COOH, R' is CH2OH or CH3, and 3/4 of R' in average is CH2O. This toner causes no blocking even in such an environment that the binder resin which constitutes the toner by weight is heated to over its glass transition temp. The starting temp. of melting of this toner is considerably low compared to a conventional toner so that a thermal fixing device can be maintained at a lower temp. than for a conventional method. Thereby, the power consumption of an electrophotographic copying machine or a printer can be reduced.</p> |
