PURPOSE:To suppress the reduction of luminance of the peripheral part of a display area on a screen and to display an image with high display quality concerning the projective display device such as a back projection type liquid crystal display device, for example, for displaying the image to be displayed on a display through an enlarged image formation optical system onto the screen. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal display panel 20 is provided with a valid display area 21 for displaying the image to be projected in the display area of the screen and a luminance compensated display area 22 for displaying the image not to be projected in the display area of the screen and among the beams from this luminance compensated display area 22, one part 25 of beams to be scattered by the aberration of an enlarged image formation optical system 23 is projected at the peripheral part of the display area on a screen 24. |
