The upper contour line and both lateral contour lines of the unit each have an inflection point, and the centre box section (23) of the elevator unit penetrates the tail unit in the region of the ribs (20,22) which carry the rudder unit. A transversely oriented tubular strut is located on the side of the tail and accommodates a swivel element together with the centre box section. The swivel element is mounted on plain or roller bearings inside the strut.
