The appts. includes liquid conducting tubes (L1) each having an associated optical sensor (S1). The sensors are mounted externally on transparent sections of the pipe. They have a radiation source on one side of the line and an optical-electrical transducer (19) on the other side. A cleaning liquid carries with it at least one cleaning body (R) whose passing causes a sensor to give out a signal for each cycle. A monitoring device records the number of generated signals with other data, e.g. the date and time, and can display them.
