<p>PURPOSE:To stably and highly accurately control valve timing by restricting the relative rotational positions of a rotary body and a cam shaft in multistages and optional positions. CONSTITUTION:A valve timing controller is structured based on the premise that the relative rotational phases of a pulley 1 and a cam shaft 2 can be transformed following the back and forth movement of a cylindrical gear 8. A gear locking mechanism 10 for meshing and locking first and second gear parts 27 and 28 by means of the spring force of a disc spring 29 is provided between a pulley main body 13 and a sleeve 6. Also, a releasing mechanism 11 for separating the first gear part 27 from the second gear part 28 by means of the attracting force of an electromagnet 30 and temporarily releasing a lock when both 1 and 2 are rotated relative to each other is provided.</p> |
