The cutting tool has a flat support (8) attached to a handle. A cover (9) fits over the support and has a blade support (10) attached to its outer face. Blade carriers (11) form a raised ridge on the surface of the blade support. Blades (12) are set in slots in the blade carriers. The position of the blades corresponds to the outer contour (7) of the switch or fitting. The paper (2) is laid over the top of the switch or fitting (4), and the tool is positioned so that the cutting blades are aligned with the external contour and the tool is pressed against the switch or fitting for cutting the paper. The blade slightly overlaps the outer contour of the fitting.
