PHTHALIMIDE COMPOUND AND ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC PHOTORECEPTOR CONTAINING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To obtain a new phthalimide compound which is useful as an acceptor compound used for the electrophotographic photoreceptor and gives an electrophotographic photoreceptor of high sensitivity and high durability. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I [R1, R2 are a (substituted) cycloalkyl, (substituted) phenyl; X is O, C (Y) (Z), N (CN); Y, Z are H, (substituted) phenyl, CN, (substituted) alkoxycarbonyl], for example, N,N'- dihexylbenzophenonetetracarboxylic diimide. A compound of formula I where X is O is obtained by reaction of 3,3,4,4-benzophenonetetracarboxylic anhydride with amino compounds of the formulas: R1NH2 and R2NH2. The photosensitive layer is formed with an electric charge generating layer and an electric charge transporting layer on the electrically conductive support layer and a compound of formula I is included in the electric charge transporting layer to give an electrophotographic photoreceptor of high sensitivity and high durability.
