The desk has a work top (1) in which a window (5) having the same area dimensions as a VDU screen is arranged. The VDU housing is supported in a slightly inclined position by a support apparatus with support straps (16,17). The support straps are fixed to suspensions (15,19) below the work top in front of the front edge (6) and behind the back edge (8) of the window, which can be moved transverse to the front and back edges and locked. The spacing of the suspension and the support straps fixed to them is less than the width of the rear wall of the VDU housing to be admitted by the support straps.
