The machine has a chassis (2) which moves in relation to the concrete (1) which is to be treated. The chassis has a grinding heads(3a, 3b) which remove the concrete and which are turned by an appropriate electric motor (6). The grinding heads are automatically controlled and programmed so that notches are only made in certain areas. The grinding heads are moved away from or against the concrete by cams. The chassis may be mobile with a carriage which straddles the concrete, the grinding heads can be positioned so that they make notches on the two opposite edges. The chassis may be fixed and the concrete moved along a conveyor which can also be programmed. The grinding heads usually make a rectangular shaped notch but other shapes can also be obtained.
