PURPOSE:To allow the image pickup device to select a moving picture image pickup mode or a still picture image pickup mode and to attain an optimum focal adjustment operation to each mode. CONSTITUTION:The image pickup device selecting a moving picture image pickup mode or a still picture image pickup mode is provided with a mode changeover switch 16 selecting the moving picture image pickup mode or the still picture image pickup mode, a focus adjustment means driving a focus lens 1 to adjust the focus so as to maximize a high frequency component in a video signal and a control microcomputer 15 to restart the focus adjustment means when the mode changeover switch 16 selects the mode from the moving picture image pickup mode into the still picture image pickup mode. |
