PURPOSE:To prevent the leakage of ink at the time of non-contact by arranging an ink absorbing member holding ink, an ink supply port, an ink supply part in which the ink introducing part of a recording head is inserted and an air passage venting air to the outside at the time of insertion. CONSTITUTION:In a process bringing an ink guide member 47 and the ink introducing part of a recording head 2 to a pressure contact state when the recording head 2 and an ink cartridge 3 are connected, the air between the ink guide member 47 and the connection part is pushed toward the ink guide member but flows to the outside through the groove 42 provided along a holding wall 41 and an atmosphere communication port 48. Since ink is preliminarily guided to the end surface of the ink guide member 48 coming into contact with the ink introducing part by capillary force, air does not almost penetrate into the ink guide member 47. When the pressing due to the connection part of the recording head 2 is released, the ink guide member 47 is pushed toward the opening part of the ink cartridge 3 by the recovery force of an ink absorbing member 37. However, the ink guide member 47 is pressed by the plate-shaped ink guide member support part 49 erected along the inner peripheral wall of the opening part to prevent the inflow of air through the opening part. |
