1,224,726. I.C. engine combustion chambers. AUTOMOBILOVE ZAVODY NARODNI PODNIK. March 14, 1969 [March 15, 1968], No.13529/69. Heading F1B. A four stroke I. C. engine combustion chamber has a part in the cylinder head having a defining surface comprised of two plane surfaces 15, 16, Fig.2 meeting in an apex and is kidney-shaped and another part 3 in a piston. The centre point of the part 3 may lie either on a connecting line or within margins up to 15% of the piston diameter on either side of a line connecting the spark plug and the centre point (6), Fig. 1 (not shown) of an anti-knock projection 8, Fig.4 formed in the cylinder head. The periphery of the anti-knock projection when viewed in plan may coincide with or lie inside or outside of the periphery of part 3. During combustion the flow of mixture 9, from the anti-knock projection 8 causes individual pockets 11, 12 of mixture to advance in the direction of the arrows. This causes an increase in the surface area of the flame front and improves combustion. |
