PURPOSE:To evaluate the printing quality of a printed can when printing is applied to the can fed on a production line. CONSTITUTION:A printing character is indicated in an input part 4. The indication key of the printing character is taken in a CPU 6 and a character pattern is read from a character generator 7. This character pattern is developed by a work memory 11 and printed on the cylindrical surface of a fed can by the printing part of an ink jet printer. This printing is photographed by a sensor 5 and subjected to binarization processing to perform character extraction. All of characters to be printed are normally printed to be set to a standard for evaluating printing quality to be stored in a character pattern memory 9. The pattern matching of this character pattern and extracted characters is performed to evaluate a printed character. As evaluation contents, there are missing dots of a character, missing characters, character contraction and character expansion. |
