1,172,037. Ratchet mechanism. INSTITUT DR. ING. REINHARD STRAUMANN A.G. 13 Oct., 1967 [17 Oct., 1966], No. 46812/67. Heading F2Q. A ratchet wheel 1 is driven by a vibratory member 5 to which is rigidly attached a rectangular blade 4 acting as a pawl, the blade 4 having its narrow edge lying in the direction of thrust and being rigid in that direction and flexible in a direction at right angles to the thrust plane. A similar pawl 9 is attached to a rigid bracket 7 and prevents back-running. In a modification, pawls 21, 22, Fig. 3, are attached to the prongs 13a, 13b of a tuning fork 13 and alternately drive a ratchet wheel 14 when the fork vibrates. In another modification pawls 24, 25, Fig. 4, are attached to the opposite edges of a vibratory member 23 and alternately drive a ratchet wheel 29. In a further modification, shown in Fig. 5, vibratory members 31, 32 are attached to the ends of a torsion vibrator 30, and carry pawls 38, 39 which alternately drive a ratchet wheel 35. |
