A covering shutter (5) is wound on a shaft, inside a casing (3) adjacent to one end of the pool (1), which is controlled to unwind or wind the shutter and covering or uncover the pool. An endless elastic cable (14) supported on four pulleys has its front vertical part (21) engaging the part of the shutter wound on the shaft in order to unroll the shutter overcome frictional forces opposing shutter displacement. An upper pulley (15a) is fixed to an upper beam (11) separating the pool from the casing and a lower front pulley located near the lower end of the vertical wall separating the pool and the casing. The front part of the cable is between these two front pulleys. Two rear pulleys are located near bottom and top parts respectively of the rear end wall (20) of the casing.
