Prodn. of pharmaceutical compsn. for sustained and controlled release of a drug (I) comprises (a) dry mixing a biodegradable polymer (A) with (I), both in the form of microparticles with mean dimension below 500 microns; (b) compressing the mixt. gradually while heating to 90 deg C; (c) extruding the precompressed/preheated mixt. at 90-100 deg C. then (4) cooling the extruded product. (A) is poly-1,4-butylene succinate or fumarate, or poly-2,3-butylene succinate or fumarate and (I) is the pamoate, tannate, stearate or palmitate of a natural or synthetic peptide.
