PURPOSE:To provide a highly active oxidation catalyst having high heat resistance and poisoning resistance to be used to burn the combustibles in industrial waste gas. CONSTITUTION:This waste gas treating oxidation catalyst has a substrate 2 for burning the combustibles in waste gas and holding the shape of the oxidation catalsyt 1, a carrier 3 provided on the substrate 2 and a noble metal grain 4 depositing on the carrier 3. The grain 4 is made of palladium or platinum, and the carrier 3 is made of alumina and contains at least one element among barium, strontium and the lanthanum and serium as the rare-earth elements. The substrate 2 is a honeycomb or grid-like ceramic or metallic body, a metallic foamed body or a metal lath, and the surface of the catalyst 1 is coated with titania 5. |
