A stainless steel excellent in the resistance to corrosion caused by molten salt, containing on the weight basis at most 0.1 % of carbon, at most 2.0 % of maganese, 7.5 to less than 15.0 % of nickel, 14.0-20.0 % of chromium, more than 0.2 to at most 4.0 % of silicon and 1.0-4.0 % of aluminium, optionally further containing one or more elements selected from the group consisting of at most 3.0 % of copper, at most 3.0 % of molybdenum, at most 1.0 % of titanium, at most 1.0 % of zirconium, at most 0.5 % of yttrium and at most 0.5 % of rare earth element, provided Si(%)/Al(%)
