PURPOSE:To manufacture an air bag very simply by superposing two panels with each other, and joining their peripheral edges together, in this air bag in an air bag unit for a front passenger seat or rear seat. CONSTITUTION:This air bag 18 is made up into bagy form after sewing two sheets of cloth between a lower panel 34 at the lower side and an upper panel 36 at the upper side, and it is constituted so as to be inflated and unfolded toward the vicinity of a cross corner part between a seat cushion and a seat back of an automobile seat. An opening 38 for receiving gas from an inflator 20 and an event hole 40 are installed in this lower panel 34. In addition, these panels 34 and 36 are superposed with each other on a working bench of a sewing machine, and both peripheral edges of these panels 34 and 36 are sewn up tight with thread 58. According to this method, sewing operation is very easily performable and, what is more, manufacturing cost is remarkably reducible. |
