<p>PURPOSE:To enable printing using as large a character as possible without providing an excessive blank by issuing a command forming the image data of the max. character size printable over the width of a detection tape when all of foregin writing characters receiving a searching result to be stored are non-protruding characters. CONSTITUTION:A tape width detection means detects the width of a tape being a printing medium and a character searching means searches whether the foreign writing characters stored in a data memory means are characters not protruding to the underside of a base line. A printing character size setting means receives the searching result from the character searching means and sets the max. character size printable over the width of the tape detected by the tape width detection means when all of the foreign writing characters stored in the data memory means are non-protruding characters and issues a command to a printing data forming means so as to form the dot image data of the set character size. As a result, the dot image data is printed on the tape being the printing medium by a printing means.</p> |
