<p>A method and composition for the treatment of oncological diseases, in particular, neoplasms of the lung. The pharmaceutical composition is derived from a plant in the Asteraceae family known as Bidens cernua L. by steam distillation and extraction in chloroform wherein the principle component of the composition is phenylheptatriyne. Oral and parenteral dosages of about 5 mg to about 100 mg of the extract per kg weight of a patient have been shown to inhibit the growth of mammalian tumors and to prevent the progression of metastasis without adversely affecting the function and structure of vital organs.</p> |
