Thia - imidazolium chlorides, e.g. the novel compounds of the Formula I wherein R is a monovalent or divalent aliphatic radical, optionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms, a monovalent or divalent cycloaliphatic radical, a monovalent or divalent araliphatic radical, optionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms or an optionally substituted monovalent or divalent aromatic radical; x is 1 or 2; and R 1 is an alkyl radical optionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms or an aryl radical optionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms or nitro, alkyl, halogenoalkyl, alkoxy or alkylmercapto radicals; by reacting isothiocyanates of the formula R-(NCS)x and organic cyanates, e.g. of the formula R<SP>1</SP>-OCN, with elementary chlorine or a compound which gives off chlorine, at a temperature of 0‹ to 100‹ C. The compounds of Formula I are stated to be useful as plant-protection agents. |
