PURPOSE:To catch a short-time abrupt phenomenon even without using a VTR by reducing a video storage memory by compressing/expanding an image. CONSTITUTION:An input signal is decomposed into the Y, U and V components of a color signal by an NTSC decoder 1 and respectively digitally converted by an A/D converter 2. These signals are compressed by the dedicated LSI of a compression circuit 3, and that output is read by a CPU 8 and stored in an image data memory 4. On the other hand, a signal stored in the memory 4 can be directly read by the CPU 8, and the read signal is expanded into the source digital signal by a data expansion circuit 5. Further, that signal is returned into analog Y, U and V signals by a D/A converter 6, reconstituted into a composite signal by an NTSC encoder 7 and outputted as a video signal. Thus, since the signal is independently stored and read from the image data memory, the memory can be used for various purposes. |
