The air bag assembly in a motor vehicle having an occupant seat mounted in the vehicle and an enclosure adjacent the occupant seat comprises an air bag having a front side wall and a back side wall. The front side wall is adjacent to and parallel to said back side wall when the air bag is deflated so that the air bag is in an unfurled and unfolded position extending along the enclosure with the back side wall and the front side wall stored engaging one another. An inflator is actuable to inflate the air bag extending along the enclosure between the occupant and enclosure. A duct is connected to and in communication with the inflator and air bag.
