1301063 Stabilizing halogen-containing polymers M & T CHEMICALS Inc 19 April 1971 [17 Feb 1970] 21881/71 Heading C3P Halogen-containing polymers, e.g. P.V.C., are stabilized by the addition of a stabilizing composition comprising calcium ethyl acetoacetate, glycerol monoricinoleate and tri- (nonylphenyl) phosphite and optionally additionally comprising dioctyl adipate or at least two members (a), (b), (c), (d) selected from (a) calcium, magnesium and zinc salts of organic aliphatic carboxylic acids, (b) thiodipropionic acid, (c) dioctyl adipate, and (d) hindered phenols of the formula wherein R<SP>11</SP> is a branched alkyl radical containing less than 10 carbon atoms, R<SP>111</SP> is an alkyl radical of less than 10 carbon atoms and a is 0 or 1. Examples are given for the stabilization of polyvinyl chloride and in some cases diphenyl thiourea is present as an additional ingredient. |
