A machine for internally grinding ring- shaped workpieces W comprises at least two power-driven spindles 1, 2, a workpiece loader 4, a workpiece ejector 5, and a magazine disc 3 having a plurality of workpiece mountings 6, 7, 8, 9 arranged to be brought successively in alignment with the loader, the spindles and the ejector, the disc being mounted on an indexing shaft 10, and the workpiece mountings being of the hydraulic centring type and having means for effecting rotating contact between the workpieces and spindles. The mountings consist of rings 17 having circumferential channels 19, 20 connected to inlets 18 joined to ducts 21 in the disc 3 and ducts 22, 23 on the shaft 10 for supplying hydraulic fluid to centre the workpieces in the rings which are fixed in the disc. The workpieces are supplied from the loader 4 successively to the rings as the magazine is indexed and are ground and finished by grinding stones 13, 14 while clamped to the appropriate spindle by a clamping disc 25 and a pressure device comprising rollers 29 on a U-shaped member 28. The grinding stones are retractable and may be oscillated during grinding. |
