A data retrieval device comprises a table memory storing the titles and indexes in a hierarchical structure, an n-th hierarchical index input and a data sector providing an (n+1)-th hierarchical data corresponding to the n-th hierarchical index from the data retrieval table memory. A data existence determining device decides whether the (n+1)-th hierarchical data exists in the memory or not, and an element data output device reads the data from the element data memory when 5the (n+1)-th hierarchical data does not exist.
