Apparatus for the level-contour grinding-off of elevations or grinding-out of defects in the form of edge-free grinding geometries

The belt grinding machine is an apparatus for the level-contour grinding-off of elevations and for the edge-free grinding-out of surface defects, which is preferably intended for use with industrial robots. On grinding out surface defects with the aid of the manipulator-guided belt grinding machine, it is possible to achieve a high surface quality of the machining location and edge-free transitions to the unmachined material surface (no secondary burrs) by means of a simple movement control. Prerequisites are the fashioning and arrangement of the drive, contact and tension rollers, and also the flexible grinding tool rotating on these rollers, which is capable of adapting, in the region of the free belt portion, to the workpiece surface to be machined. By virtue of the constructional features of the grinding-belt guiding system, the belt grinding machine is able to absorb forces transversely to the direction of rotation of the grinding belt without endangering the running stability of the grinding belt.
