摘要 1350695 Horizontal electrolytic cell C CONRADTY 10 May 1971 [16 June 1970] 13935/71 Heading C7B An amalgam electrolytic cell for the production of Cl 2 comprises an anode construction which includes a plurality of spaced comb like slotted graphite plates 1. These plates 1 are set transversely to the direction of flow of the mercury cathode, correspond in their length to the width of the cathode, carry on their upper side contact bushes 4 made from conductive corrosion-resistant material such as Pt coated Ti and are connected to power distributor rails 7 (e. g. of Cu). Except for the bush-fitted graphite plates 1, all current conducting parts of the anode construction are excluded from the interior of the cell either (a) by means of troughshaped bellows assemblies 6 of corrosionresistant elastomer or (b) by troughs (11), Fig.4, (not shown) made from sheet valve metal (e.g. Ti) with elastomer seals (12) between the bottoms of the troughs and tops of the bushes 4. As illustrated in Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), adjusting means are provided for raising and lowering the anode structure. In the (Fig.5) arrangement the cell cover is rigid with the cell whereas in the (Fig.6) arrangement the cell cover is moved when the anode structure is moved.
