The invention relates to a non-rail borne motor vehicle with arbitrarily steerable front wheels and automatically operating rear-wheel steering. For operation in which it is guided on rails the vehicle has suitable rail-guiding elements which act on the front wheels. For this operation in which it is guided on rails the automatic rear-wheel steering is switched over to a mode of operation in which the rear wheels follow the tracks of the front wheels.
