Method and winding device for producing wound objects, especially fruit gum whirls

To produce an object which is wound in a spiral and/or helical manner from a strand of material, especially a strand of fruit gum or the like, it is proposed that the strand of material be continuously fed to a winding device having at least two winding units which successively and cyclically traverse a threading station, can be driven so as to execute a rotary movement and move round a closed track and for the said strand of material to be severed when a winding unit reaches the threading station between the latter and the winding unit which has last passed through the threading station and to be automatically taken hold of and wound by the winding unit which has just entered the threading station, each object wound from a severed piece of strand being ejected by its winding unit before the latter reaches the threading station once again.
