The subject matter of the invention is a hand-operable cutting appliance for foodstuffs, in particular for doner kebabs or gyros. The appliance exhibits a housing, designed at least partially as a handle or exhibiting a handle, as well as a driven circular cutter, which is mounted on a drive shaft guided out of the housing and of which the outer circular border forms a cutting edge rotating in a cutting plane, as well as a cutter guard, which largely covers the circular cutter, and a stop which restricts the cutting depth.
