The installation for planting out plants grown in the form of soil blocks (plugs) (4) in cellular trays (3) is of the type operating with the combination: of a single means (5) for extracting the plant (4) from the cell of the seed tray (3) and for holding the said plant, of a means (11) for taking over the said plant and planting it out into pots (12) to be filled which are placed on a sequential conveyor device (13). This installation is characterised in that it includes a detection system (9) designed to check the quality of the plant (4), borne by the extraction and holding means (5), as well as means able to halt the take-over means (11) and the device (13) for conveying the pots (12) to be filled, in the event of a non-conforming plant (4) being detected. <IMAGE>
