发明名称 ELECTRIC HEATING-TYPE CATALYST DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE:To contrive decrease in energy consumption by partially heating a catalyst support through a process of providing a partial heating part connected to the catalyst support so as to be partially electrified. CONSTITUTION:A metallic support 15 wherein a short-circuit passage 22 in the radial direction is formed is attached in the position of a first catalyst device 11 of a catalyst device 10, and only the metallic support 15 is connected to the power supply such as a battery. The short-circuit passage 22 is formed on the end surface on the upstream side, and electric resistance of the short-circuit passage 22 is smaller than that of a band-like body for constituting a honeycomb-like column 20, so large current flows to the short-circuit passage 22. Accordingly, the short-circuit passage 22 becomes a live to build a fire even in the relative narrow range, and action of the catalyst is started near there, and the reactive heat heats the other catalyst material, so as to raise the temperature successively, thereby the catalyst is activated. Thereby, warming of the whole of the catalyst device 10 is achieved in a short period by electric power smaller than the conventional one. Accordingly, the whole of the catalyst device 10 quickly and normally purifies exhaust gas after an engine is started, the discharging time of not purified exhaust gas is shortened, and the amount of contaminant is decreased.
