A sun roof, in particular for a motor vehicle, comprises a transparent pane (1) which is provided on its inside with two polarising layers (2, 3) which are displaceable relative to each other. Each of these layers (2, 3) contains regions (8, 10; 9, 11) with a different direction of polarisation, which regions alternate in the direction of displacement. By displacement these regions can be set into positions in which regions (8, 9; 10, 11) of identical direction of polarisation or regions (8, 11; 9, 10) of a different direction of polarisation cover one another (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
