<p>The present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition for oral consumption in aqueous solution comprising a drug/β-cyclodextrin complex, characterised in that the composition further comprises a pharmaceutically acceptable acid-base couple, preferably an effervescent acid-base couple, in a quantity sufficient to cause the drug/β-cyclodextrin complex to dissolve when the composition is mixed with cold water and provide a solution with acid or neutral pH. The preferred acid-base couple is an effervescent couple which contains citric and/or tartaric acid and sodium bicarbonate and/or carbonate. The preferred drugs for use in the composition include lipophilic NSAID's e.g. ibuprofen, naproxen and ketoprofen.</p> |
