Improved engine oil circuit for the piston valve engine

In the oil circuit described in patent application P 4229864.4 too much oil is consumed since it passes out through the exhaust with the exhaust gas. By incorporating two pumps, independent of one another, into the oil circuit it was possible to determine the oil feed more precisely. By fitting an oil retainer ring to the cylinder wall it was possible to retain the excess oil between piston and cylinder wall, delimited by the piston ring and oil retainer ring. For this purpose it was necessary to rotate the entire engine so that the crankcase is now always fitted at the top. In addition the engine oil feed lines were laid beyond the piston top dead centre, that is closer to the crankcase and on the far side of the piston ring. The return lines which terminate in the oil tank above the oil level are now situated above the feed lines directly beneath the oil retainer ring. A suction pump driven by the crankshaft provides for the necessary negative pressure above the oil level. The outlet line extends into the exhaust, for breathing. The other oil pump is electrically driven and is controlled by the central computer chip. The required data are worked out on the test bench. Any necessary re-adjustment of the said oil feed pump is possible by means of a potentiometer during the routine inspections.
