PURPOSE:To provide a method for forming a uniform and stable coating film of silicon carbide on the whole surface of a carbon material even without using a special baking device. CONSTITUTION:Synthetic fibers containing a metallized silicon is made into a sheetlike material. The whole surface of a carbon material is packed with the sheetlike material, the carbon material is fed to a furnace and the carbon is reacted with the metallized silicon and sintered to form a coating film of silicon carbide on the surface of the carbon material. |
