PURPOSE:To surely remove wrinkles easy to generate in a thermal recording material after an image is thermally recorded on the thermal recording material. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording apparatus is equipped with a recording part 18 applying predetermined heat energy to a thermal recording material 12 to record an image and a spreading means 20 heating the thermal recording material 12 to which the predetermined heat energy is applied to the thermal deformation temp. of a support 14 or higher and pressing the thermal recording material to smooth the same and the spreading means 20 is equipped with a pair of heat rollers 40a, 40b provided in mutually opposed relationship and holding the thermal recording material 12 to be rotated in the direction shown by an arrow.
